Full surgical facilities; We have two purpose built surgical theatres, one for equine surgery and one for small animal surgery. Both theatres are fully equipped with gas anesthesia, patient monitoring equipment and a full range of surgical instruments. This enables the team at Kenmare Veterinary Centre to perform a myriad of surgical procedures for both horses and small animals. Procedures available include; routine procedures such as small animal neutering and laceration suturing, right up to full orthopedic surgery, including osteosynthesis with steel plates, screws and wires etc. For horses we offer routine castrations or sarcoid removal, a full referral service including joint surgery performed by some of Europes leading equine surgeons, right through to emergency colic surgery.
Digital X-Rays and Ultrasound Imaging; We also offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging with digital x-rays and ultrasound exams. We can offer pregnancy diagnosis for small animals and horses using our ultrasound scanner, and a full range of x-ray imaging, from bone fracture diagnosis, through to chest an abdomen x-rays.
In House Laboratory Service; In our on site lab we can provide a full range of blood testing, which greatly reduces waiting time for results, and offers specific diagnoses while you wait. We also have a comprehensive microbiology lab, which helps us identify and treat specifically the pathogens involved in your animals condition.
Reproductive Services; At Kenmare Veterinary Centre we have a full equine reproductive centre, including reproductive evaluation of the mare, treatment of difficult mares, and a full AI service using fresh or chilled semen. We can also collect semen from stallions for fresh use in artificial insemination, and for evaluation on site. We also offer ovulation testing for bitches to improve pregnancy rates, and canine pregnancy diagnosis using either ultrasound or x-ray.
Dentistry Services; We offer a comprehensive range of dental procedures, including routine scaling for small animals and dental treatments for horses. The health of your pets teeth are of paramount importance and the first stage of alimentary canal, and in the case of horses as a vital point of communication between horse and rider. We have up the minute equipment for both equines and small animals, and through the use of out diagnostic and surgical facilities outlined above we can carry out the full range of dental procedures, including diastemas and extractions.
Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy; Through use of our specialised equipment we can image the respiratory tract of your pet or equine, in the event of obstruction or respiratory infections etc. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy can also be performed and is used to examine the esophagus and stomach. Endoscopy can be used to diagnose foreign bodies, inflammation, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, tumors, and strictures of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
